LOCATION NOTES

Monaco: the Rock of Monaco is an independent sovereign state located between the foot of the Southern Alps and the Mediterranean. The Prince’s Palace harbour splendours tracing out seven centuries of uninterrupted sovereignty.

Cannes: hosts the annual Cannes Film Festival and Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival. The city is also famous for its luxury shops, restaurants, and hotels. La Croisette is known for the picturesque beaches, restaurants, cafés and boutiques. Le Suquet, the old town, provides a good view of La Croisette.

Grasse: the winding network of its narrow streets reflects the successive expansions around its original hilltop, the Puy, where the cathedral stands, representing the spiritual and temporal authority. Grasse has had a prospering perfume industry since the end of the 18th century. Grasse is the centre of the French perfume industry and is known as the world's perfume capital (la capitale mondiale des parfums). There is an annual Fête du Jasmin or La Jasminade, at the beginning of August.

Saint-Tropez was a military stronghold and an unassuming fishing village until the beginning of the 20th century. It became an internationally-known seaside resort, renowned principally because of the influx of artists from show- business. The painting styles of pointillism and Fauvism emerged at Saint-Tropez.
