Intrepid snorkelers can use the dock ladder for gentle water entry before exploring the nearby reefs. All guests receive free snorkel gear upon check-in at Silver Thatch Welcome Center.
Inside, the home's kitchen comes fully equipped with an electric cooktop, dual ovens, a built-in refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, and twin wine/beverage fridges. Prepare a home-style dinner or hire a private chef for a night of in-villa fine dining.
A large formal indoor dining table seats eight guests. The outdoor dining table on the screened porch seats eight guests for meals with oceanfront views.
Beach Notes
The entire island is only 22 miles wide from west to east, so you are never too far from anywhere on Grand Cayman.
The villas in the Cottage District on the southeast coast offer great reef-protected snorkeling plus proximity to the best dive operators on Cayman--Ocean Frontiers and Tortuga Divers. Being on the south coast the water tends to be very calm on the beaches.
The water behind White Cottage is usually calm and has a sandy water entry for the first 3-8 feet. This is a reef-protected marine environment and the snorkeling can be wonderful, even in shallow waters.
General Grand Cayman Beach Notes
All beaches in Grand Cayman are technically public since the Crown owns up to the high watermark. The shoreline quality behind your property may vary slightly from the images on our website due to shifting tides and weather patterns. The next-door beach is also always available for your use.
Ocean Debris and Sargassum Seaweed
Beaches in Grand Cayman may also experience floating ocean debris and sargassum weed seasonally.
Sargassum is a generally harmless floating seaweed that has increased in frequency over the years during the summer. Our owners do make efforts to remove heavy sargassum and will have the beach raked prior to your arrival.
Should sargassum weed be extremely heavy behind your property, we will reach out to the owner for solutions. We try our best to work around mother nature.

Great reasons to stay outside
The setting is lovely, tucked away from the hustle where you can enjoy your own beach and dock with a variety of sea life and minimal seaweed but lots of sea grass. The pool has plastic railings and the decorative glass tile is starting to come off in places so be careful but the kids still enjoyed it. During our stay the primary shower barely had enough water pressure to rinse shampoo, the upstairs shower needed a video of how to make it work, toilets were temperamental, the outside shower broke and the front gate never worked, propane tank for the grill was empty (despite being told it was brand new), and there are lion fish who live at the dock so be careful. If you rent over Easter be prepared for the lot next door to have camping and a 300 person party, the host of the party is very friendly and kind just know it will get lively. The beds and linens are comfortable and the kitchen is large enough for a few adults to move about and is well equipped. The inside furniture is comfortable but the outside couches are scratchy. The property manager presents an air of indifference and would rather chat about the island than hear about problems. The setting is lovely but between the amount of broken aspects of the house and the indifferent property manager I wouldn’t return.
