The Tryall Club requires all villa and condo guests to become members during their stay via a temporary membership fee of $130 (plus 15% service charge) per week for each guest 16 years and over, or $26 (plus 15% service charge) per day per person for stays of less than seven days.
There are views and there are views, but then there are the views from Point of View. Suffice to say William Shakespeare, were he to be transported here down from the heavens above would immediately grasp pen and put to paper 'A Midsummer's Night Dream', and as you daydream in one of the hammocks under the almond trees, allow your imagination to spot Titania, Oberon and Puck flitting through the gardens, pursued by hummingbirds and little Jamaican parrots.
Point of View is a place in which to dream; an a Arcadia of peace and tranquility where the silence is punctuated by birds cheerily singing, leaves rustling in the breeze and the laughter of children as water splashes about them in the turquoise swimming pool.
Built on the summit of Barnes Hill and on one level, Point of View embraces all that is beautiful and inherently creative about Jamaica; its architecture, natural stones, burnished mahogany and gardens that celebrate the vibrancy and colour for which this quixotic island country is renowned. There are five bedrooms to choose from; two of them have king beds, two have queen beds and one twin beds. All open out onto the long, covered veranda.
All of the bedrooms have a private en suite bathroom with waterworks fittings. The master bedroom has an outdoor shower and a free-standing white porcelain bath positioned right in front of a wall that can be opened revealing the valley below. Bathing will never be the same again.
Living in Jamaica is all about the world outdoors, the beauty of a leaf, the many hues of an orchid garden, a tree laden with fruit and hives abuzz with bees busy at work. All of this is encapsulated at Point of View, including five bee hives, and the veranda with its comfortably soporific seating, tables for dining and infinity pool and lawns in front is designed so that everything can be taken in and the senses heightened. But if from time to time there is the need to step away, there is an indoor sitting room where deep sofas await and interesting books line shelves and sit on tables, ready to be read.
There are many surprises at Point of View; bird cages amidst flower borders, inquisitive parrots, courtyards to skulk away to, a herb garden that tastes every bit as good as it looks and a gazebo. Except this is not a normal gazebo. Slightly oriental in its graceful lines and with a conversation-inducing circular dining table, it is cantilevered so as to offer a panorama of falling and soaring valleys, distant ocean and trees and flowers. At dawn it stands above the mist swirling below, at dusk it salutes the setting of the sun and at night it is lit overhead by stars in the inky sky and by the flickering of flames in the nearby fire pit.
