Your Guide to Playa del Carmen Luxury Villas

Located at the edge of Mexico’s stunning Yucatan Peninsula on its Caribbean coast, Playa del Carmen is one of the Mayan Riviera’s premiere vacation destinations. And with their privacy, style, staff, and amenities, Playa del Carmen luxury villas let you experience the best that this beautiful resort town has to offer.

Originally a small fishing village, Playa del Carmen first became known in the 1960s as a ferry stop to nearby Cozumel. In the 1980s, the area began transforming into a popular tourism destination of its own, thanks in part to the opening of the Cancun International Airport.

While it was known in the 1980s as an off-the-beaten-path destination for backpackers, the 1990s saw significant development in Playa del Carmen’s tourism sector as resorts began popping up and travellers flocked to the area to experience its beautiful beaches, famous nightlife, and enchanting Mayan Ruins. It was around this time that villa rentals in Playa del Carmen started developing as well, as guests craved a higher standard of luxury and privacy.

Playa del Carmen continued to develop further since then, and today there’s a greater emphasis on honouring Mayan culture and embracing the ecology that offers so much to this beautiful region. Our Playa del Carmen villas proudly contribute to this rich heritage.

Renting a villa in Playa del Carmen is easy with Rental Escapes. First, choose your approximate travel dates. Next, decide on your party size. After, your concierge can help with any requests you may have, including airport transfers, car rentals, boat charters, private chef service, and anything else you can think of.

Luxury Villas in Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen is home to stretches of beautiful coastline, especially in the Playacar development, as well as a bustling core of shopping and nightlife known as La Quinta (5th Avenue).

Our Playa del Carmen villas are also independently owned and operated, so each has its own sense of style and character, with unique architectural touches and distinct interior design.

Below are a few of our guests’ favourites, including beachfront villas, villas with private chefs, and villas in Playacar.
