The easiest way to get to Manuel Antonio is to fly into Juan Santamaria International Airport in San Jose. From there, you can take a quick connecting flight to La Managua Airport, which is just a 25-minute drive. Alternatively, you can drive 3-4 hours from San Jose Airport. The best way to get around Manuel Antonio is by renting a car. Renting a car will let you explore more of the park and the surrounding areas on your terms. In addition, taxis and private drivers are readily available. There is also a reliable bus service connecting Quepos to Manuel Antonio National Park, with beach stops along the way. High season in Manuel Antonio runs from December to April. This is the dry season, with consistent sun and ideal weather for the beach and exploring the park. That said, crowds are also highest at this time.
Shoulder season is from May to August and November. This time of year still sees great weather, but it is the transition to the rainy season. However, crowds and prices are lower, making this a favorite time for many.
Low season is from September to October. This is the peak of rainy season, with frequent showers, especially in the afternoon. That said, the rainforest is at its most lush at this time, and crowds and prices are at their lowest.
Manuel Antonio is considered safe. However, travelers should still exercise common sense, such as not leaving belongings unattended, or avoiding walking alone at night. The park itself is also home to diverse wildlife. While most wildlife is harmless, others, such as monkeys, may approach you for food. Lastly, the water can have strong rip tides and currents, so stick to swimming in designated areas only.

Manuel Antonio enjoys a tropical climate with a distinct dry and green season.
Dry season is from December to April. The weather is warm and sunny. Average daytime temperatures range from 75°F to 90°F (24°C to 32°C). Evenings are slightly cooler, around 68°F to 75°F (20°C to 24°C). Average monthly precipitation is only about 1 to 2 inches (25 to 50 mm).
Green season is from May to November. The weather remains warm, with average daytime temperatures ranging from 75°F to 85°F (24°C to 29°C). Nighttime temperatures are typically between 70°F to 75°F (21°C to 24°C). Average precipitation ranges from 5 to 20 inches (125 to 500 mm) per month. The heaviest rains occur in September and October.
