Nonsuch Oceanfront 1 BDM Penthouse

The Nonsuch Suite takes its name from an English gun ketch constructed in Essex, England in 1650. She was the ship responsible for the founding of the Hudson Bay Company in 1667, meaning unparalleled.

A magnificently appointed Penthouse, The Nonsuch Suite is a most exquisite retreat. With five private oceanfront terraces and spacious, beautifully designed rooms, the 4,600-square-foot suite is striking in its multitude of rich details.

The Caribbean Colonial atmosphere features magnificently detailed furnishings and finishes including Ipe (a South American hardwood) floors with sisal carpet inlays, high baseboards and plantation-style shutters. Sumptuous fabrics, hand-crafted furnishings and custom appointments from exotic locales, including Indonesia, Morocco, Java and Turkey, adorn the lavish, effortlessly luxurious space designed with the most discriminating traveller in mind.

Guests enter the suite through the Saturnia stone, antique-filled entrance hall, opening into the Grand Salon with rattan-lined cathedral ceilings and an oceanfront terrace. A grand piano, Mandalay lamps and plush furnishings give the room a rich, refined atmosphere.

Raised, and overlooking the Grand salon is a large dining room featuring a handmade Indonesian table and complemented by an Indonesian wedding chest and cabinets crafted from a canoe.

Connected to the Grand Salon in the hip Room (Library/Drawing Room), dark woods, leather furnishings and a wet bar create a warm retreat for reading and afternoon cocktails as well as an adjacent study and access to two of the Suites five roof terraces.

The Master bedroom to the West of the Grand salon features a king-size tented bed and is striking in its simplicity. Like the Ship Room, the Bedroom also features a side terrace furnished with sun loungers and a roof terrace with an Indonesian Bale bed providing a serene private escape.

Off the Master bedroom, the large master bathroom is beautifully tiled and features golden Sienna marble his and her vanities, Jacuzzi and a flood shower. An oversized dressing room has cabinets crafted of mahogany with woven Italian leather facings and custom-made Indonesian brass handles and drawer pulls.

Gourmet cooks will appreciate the suite's thoughtful kitchen design, which includes a separate maid's washing up the kitchen with a utility area and a separate cooking kitchen with Indonesian teak cabinets, distressed Italian blue pearl granite counters and every modern amenity, including a professional stove with halogen heating, a downdraft barbecue and Sub Zero refrigerators.

Those who prefer pampering to food preparation will be drawn to the suite's serenely furnished massage room, which features a leather-covered massage table. The room has its own bathroom with a needle shower, as well as a separate entrance for the masseur. Impressionist paintings, mahogany shutters and caned furnishings create a restful ambiance for relaxing and rejuvenating body treatments.

Guests travelling with family or friends may reserve the Nonsuch with the connecting 2,600-square-foot Cotton Cay suite downstairs. The three-bedroom suite is reached via a charming elevator reminiscent of an old London hotel replete with brass scissor doors and mahogany walls with Hessian wallpaper accents.

The suite features three bathrooms, a powder room, foyer, living area, dining area, television room, kitchen and expansive exterior terrace. The two suites together feature a combined 7,200 square feet of living space.
