Noble House

Overview

5 10 7

Noble House is a unique architectural gem by the sea. Its design is a series of airy pavilions with peaked roofs, its living spaces separated by water gardens and bridges. Indoor spaces flow into outdoor with Oriental grace. Rooms are walled by tall mahogany French doors that open to private porches. Ceiling fans are throughout.

The 600 square foot main pavilion consists of the Great Room with 56 glass doors and massive wrap around veranda on floors of gleaming white Jamaican marble. Outside the Great Room, a Japanese footbridge arches over a reflecting pool to the formal dining room. Like the Great Room, the dining room has wrap-around glass doors that open to the mesmerizing panorama of gardens and ocean view. Adjacent are a full bar and powder room.

Meals here merit special attention. The excellent Noble House Chef Jerome brings a strong culinary background to the table, enhanced by artful presentations. In addition to North American, Jamaican and Continental expertise, Jerome is experienced in handling all Kosher requirements. Breakfasts cooked to order are served on the main veranda overlooking the groomed gardens and sea just beyond. Lunches are served by the pool or beach or on the shaded veranda. Dinners for special celebrations can be served in the formal dining room under an elegant crystal chandelier, less formally on the open air veranda or barefoot at a picnic table on the beach at the water's edge.

Throughout the villa is a collection of art and antiques gathered by Broadway Billy Rose and later acquired by the original homeowner, the late New York tycoon Sol Atlas including a drop-leaf tavern table c. 1700, a hand-carved livery cupboard c. 1640, carvings from Indian temple chariots and a 19th Century grandfather clock.

The sprawling grounds are like both a park and a playing field. The gardens include a wild orchid tree, herb garden, two mango trees, one lime tree and a beautiful breadfruit tree. The wide lawns are home to croquet, badminton and volleyball.

100 yards offshore is Holden's Reef, a continuation of the barrier reef complex that fronts much of Jamaica's north coast. Easily reachable by kayak, this live reef is home to a myriad of tropical fish and corals. At low tide, portions protrude above the water so you can step from your kayak to snorkel in shallow water. On the ocean side, deeper waters beckon the more adventurous or scuba equipped.

Noble House shares eight acres on the sea with deluxe neighboring villas Serenity and Tranquility on the Beach. Combining these three homes creates a 15 bedroom compound with three pools, tennis court, basketball hoop, long beachfront and staff of 19. This remarkable waterfront trio is a favorite for family reunions. All three villas are very private from each other, extremely family friendly and welcome children.

The Tryall Club Membership
A significant amenity for guests in this villa is membership at the excellent Tryall Club. On 2 200 acres, Tryall's golf course is among the most beautiful in the world. Its 18 hillside and seaside fairways have been home to the Johnnie Walker, Mazda and other PGA championship events. The resident pro offers workshops and private lessons. The Tryall tennis club features nine nova cushion courts, some lit for night play, with world class pros on call. All white attire required.

The beach is well planned for parents and children. Have lunch at the beach bar. Work out in the well-equipped gym and compete in the new Usain Bolt Games Room at the Great House (teens love it). Jog the marked trails. Snorkeling, kayaking, hobie cat and sunfish are complimentary. Glass bottom boats, charter fishing, a boat to the reef and any captained craft attract various fees. Enjoy weekly events like complimentary Manager's cocktail party on Mondays, as well as beach barbecues and reggae night beach parties for an additional fee.

On the hill, enjoy the historic Great House for daily 4:00 tea and sweets. Shop at the convenient commissary and chic boutique, and meet for happy hour and snacks at the casual bar. Also at the great house is the new Usain Bolt Games Room open all day and night for ping pong, pool, air hockey, Foosball, shuffleboard, chess and checkers, board games, comfy reclining chairs and high definition television. Do not miss the massive Tryall pool. The Tryall Club is thoughtfully designed to please toddlers, preteens, tweens, moms, dads and everyone from teens to octogenarians.

RE Staff were helpful and responsive

In terms of the property - Noble House on the Beach, Jamaica - the villa was great and the staff were wonderful. Roderick and his team provided us with everything we needed and chef Jerome was outstanding! The only drawback, and it substantial, was the beach. We had really bad weather (rained 3 1/2 straight days - hurricane type rain) and the river that flows into the bay dumped sediment into the bay and worse, lots of trash. After the rain started on Tuesday afternoon we wouldn't venture onto the beach. This is really too bad....if it was on a white sand beach we would return without hesitation.

Fabulous Jamaican Vacation!

Our stay at Noble House was wonderful! From the planning all the way through to the last day, all of our needs (and wants) were met! The communication before our stay was great with both Justin in sales and Tim, the concierge. The house is beautiful, very spread out allowing everyone to have their own space yet come together for a swim, cocktails or a wonderful meal prepared by Chef Jerome. Each bedroom was spacious and comfortable with individual air conditioning units which were nice at night. We were there in July and although it was hot most of the time, there was always a nice breeze. The staff was amazing and very attentive. The rooms were made up first thing in the morning, usually while we were eating breakfast and turned down at night. Towels, both bath and pool, were replenished almost immediately! Each morning the laundress would gather dirty clothes and they would be returned but the afternoon, clean and beautifully pressed, what a treat! The butlers, Roderick and Rhondie, were friendly and attentive. Although we always felt well taken care of, it was never stuffy and we were always relaxed enjoying a cold drink. The Chef, Jerome was wonderful! The first three meals were planned in advance and then Chef met with us on the first morning to present his menus and let us choose for the week. Everything on the menu looked great so we left it up to him and we were not disappointed. He was accommodating for the children and had a menu dedicated to child-friendly food. Each meal was presented on a beautifully set table with a different set of linens each time! Coffee and tea were set up on the veranda each morning at 7:00am. Breakfast started each day with a platter of fresh fruit served by Roderick and then we each got eggs to order. There was bacon every day and either pancakes, french toast or waffles. Homemade muffins and sweet sautéed plantains were served a couple of times. Lunch varied from homemade sandwiches to fish wraps to fried fish to lobster salad. For dinner, we had fresh fish, chicken, homemade soups and then the Jamaican feast on the last night with a homemade surprise chocolate anniversary cake. Nigel, our driver, was great, knowledgeable and friendly. He arrived every day around 10:00am and was available to take us wherever we wanted to go. We went to The Tryall Club one day and enjoyed the beach, Negril one day, Margaritaville and on several runs to the store for more wine! He was prompt in picking us all up at the airport and the van was comfortable, well air-conditioned and big enough for our party of 10. Our stay was wonderful and I can see us going back. It was such a treat to be pampered by the staff and they were wonderful with the kids, playing cards with them and chasing them around the grounds. We were greeted at the house by the whole staff with run punch and fruit smoothies and they were all out front for goodbyes and hugs when we left! A first class vacation!
