HOPKINS, HOME OF THE RESORT
The fascinating Garifuna village of Hopkins, is located just one mile north of The Lodge at Jaguar Reef, Almond Beach Resort and Villa Margarita. It is eight miles south of Dangriga and four miles off the Southern Highway. Hopkins Village is a quaint, traditional fishing village, which was established in the 19th century, considered to be the cultural center of the Garinagu population.

The village is surrounded by the misty-green Maya Mountains, the Cockscomb Range inland, and the blue Caribbean Sea on its shore. It is the perfect base for visitors to explore major Belize attractions such as, The Belize Barrier Reef, Cockscomb Basin Wild Life Sanctuary, Mayflower National Park, Whale Sharks at Gladden Spit, Bioluminescent at Andersons Lagoon and Cultural Display of the Garinagu.

Today Hopkins Village is a small but vibrant community of approximately 1,500 villagers. The people live mostly by fishing and recently, many have found work in the growing hotel industry. The residents are known for their friendliness and genuine hospitality, and are very welcoming to visitors. It is a small village but full of rustic charm.

The Paddle House The Paddle House by Chef Rahim has a breezy Caribbean feel. It is a culinary destination loaded with an array of delicate flavors, freshness of ingredients and impeccable presentation all with spectacular views, a comfortable and casual atmosphere. Enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner in our beachfront restaurant. A full menu of fresh tropical fruits, seafood, salads, soups, sandwiches, Belizean dishes and some tantalizing desserts. Freshness is key to our fantastic culinary creations. Organic in nature, all our vegetables and fruits are locally grown and do not have additional preservatives or flavor enhancers. Weekly dining events feature serving stations including pastas, omelettes made-to-order, taco bar, Maya cuisine and other local delicacies. These specialties can be complemented by a wide selection of wines, drinks and cool tropical cocktails. The Grove House Decked in exotic greenery, the dining room evokes the restaurant's surrounding jungles with amazing views to the mountains. It is situated on the second and third floor of Sleeping Giant's main building. The second deck hosts the bar, lounge and balcony dining area. The third floor hosts the main sitting area for Breakfast and Dinners. It's a spacious yet intimate setting that creates a romantic ambiance with exquisite food presentations that are as delectable as they look. The Sleeping Giant Restaurant offers North American & Belizean inspired cuisine using only the top local and organic ingredients from surrounding gardens. It is open daily, for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner and offers a la carte private dining.
