Spring Break: It’s Not Just For Kids

By Amanda Gabrielli · On March 2, 2020

Just because your college days are over doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy Spring break, especially if there’s a beach getaway involved. No matter the size of your group, we’ve listed below some hot spot suggestions that you should head to for some much needed (and deserved) R&R. So while all the college kids dive into the bustling party scene, make sure you spring break like an adult!

Palm trees at sunset at the Malibu Pier

Visitors can enjoy a variety of delicious restaurants, great shopping, amazing beaches to lounge on, fantastic surfing waves as well as unique outdoor activities that include kayaking, fishing and much more!

Zuma Beach:

Take a day trip to visit the largest, most beautiful (and most popular beach) in Malibu: Zuma Beach. Known for its long stretch of golden sand, this slice of paradise is perfect for lounging with friends, swimming, surfing and beach volleyball!

Malibu Pier:

Looking for the best spot to cast a line? Malibu Pier is the place to be. This 780 foot long fishing pier is located right next to Malibu’s Surfrider Beach, the heart of California’s surf culture.

Not into fishing? That’s okay! Malibu Pier is also a pleasant place for an evening stroll, especially right before the sun sets. You’ll also be delighted to find several restaurants on the pier, offering up succulent seafood, delicious cocktails and even better views.

Malibu Wine Safari:

Mix a little vino with a handful of exotic animals and you’ve got the Malibu Wine Safari! The trip takes you around a 1000 acre vineyard where you’ll be able to sip on crisp wine while admiring the alpacas, zebras, giraffes and even some bison! Oh, and did we mention, you can feed the animals?! It’s basically like going to the zoo but for grown ups!

Aerial shot of the USVI

This American territory is among the top tourist destinations in the Caribbean and includes about 50 islands and cays, the most well known being St. Thomas, St. Croix and St. John. Beyond their world class attractions, USVI offers a wide variety of exciting activities and events that allow you to truly explore and take in all the beauty of the islands.

The Tropical Treasure Hunt

This is an exciting and immersive experience that allows you to explore and discover beautiful St. Thomas to the fullest!

You can choose from 3 different alluring options: popular hunts, team building hunts or better yet each treasure hunt can be customized to the individual person based on their personality and interests!

Combining the best elements of escape rooms and scavenger hunts, The Tropical Treasure Hunt has become one of the islands best attractions.

Trunk Bay Beach

This is considered to be the ‘holy grail’ of beaches on the St. Johns island. There is no shortage of white sands, coconut palms and azure waters here! It’s a serene location for terrific snorkeling or just taking in the tropical weather by the shore. You can also rent an assortment of water sports equipment.

During peak season, the area can get a bit crowded, but this doesn’t usually draw away from it’s brilliance. You will also find that Trunk Bay Beach has excellent facilities that includes a snack bar, changing rooms, showers, bathrooms, a picnic dining area and a gift shop!

The Baths

This is one of the USVI’s most unique natural wonders located in Virgin Gorda and is at the top of most traveler’s sightseeing list. This attraction is made up of giant boulders that were brought to the surface by volcanic eruptions thus creating these breathtaking grottos and gentle pools for visitors to explore.

Travel Tip: Make it your objective to head to The Baths as early as possible as it can get quite busy throughout the day.

Swimming sea turtle in Hawaii

With four main islands of sun, surf and sand Hawaii is the ultimate summer destination which is why families and groups consistently flock to this state for a much anticipated getaway. While it’s the perfect place to relax on the beach with a tropical cocktail in hand, it’s also filled with ecological and historical attractions. When planning a trip to this isle, you should definitely take the time to see a few of the attractions below.

Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve Park

In 1990, Hanauma Bay underwent a major transformation after years of neglect and overuse. After a decade of repairs the area was reopened to the public as a nature reserve. It’s now an example of Hawaii’s protected natural beauty where visitors can also have an amazing snorkeling experience.

Diamond Head

Diamond Head is one of Hawaii’s most famous historical landmarks. It received its namesake in the 1700’s when miners mistook calcite crystals for diamonds while digging through the summit. Hiking up Diamond Head is a must-do activity during a vacation in Hawaii. The hike takes up to 2 hours and leads you through dark tunnels, old military bunkers, and other interesting surroundings. Once you’re at the top you will enjoy breathtaking views of Honolulu.

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park

The Hawaii Volcanoes National Park surrounds Kilauea – which is one of the most active volcanoes on earth. The park has over 150 miles of hiking trails, exposing visitors to volcanic craters, rainforests, desserts, a museum, and a walk-in lava tube. This is the most intimate and exciting volcanic tour people can freely explore.

Travel tip: Dedicate an entire day to visiting the park and bring plenty of food and water.

In the end, it may be a tossup as to who will be more enchanted, the kids or the parents! Regardless, you’re never too old to spend a day at Disney!

Harry Potter at Universal Studios

The wizarding world of Harry Potter was opened in 2014 and muggles have never looked back. The infamous world created by JK Rowling will leave you enchanted from the moment you enter through its magical doors.
